AKAI GX-210D
Introduced during the 1970s, the Akai GX-210D is a three-motor, three-head reel-to-reel tape recorder renowned for its Glass & Crystal Ferrite (GX) heads. Unlike conventional metal heads, GX heads are highly resistant to wear, maintaining consistent performance and extending the recorder's service life.
Operating at 3¾ ips (9.5 cm/s) and 7½ ips (19 cm/s), the GX-210D offers excellent recording quality, stable tape transport, and reliable long-term performance. Its robust engineering, simple mechanical design, and durable GX heads have made it one of Akai's most respected reel-to-reel recorders and a favourite among collectors and restoration enthusiasts
